Christian Eriksen has thanked those who assisted him after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch against Finland on Saturday and now wants to understand what happened .

Inter midfielder Eriksen collapsed in the first half of the Euro 2020 match in Copenhagen with no other player around him.

He was given CPR by medics and the fixture was originally suspended, but once Eriksen was confirmed to be awake the game resumed just under two hours later, Finland going on to win 1-0.

The Danish Football Union (DBU) provided an update on Sunday, confirming that he had suffered a cardiac arrest but his condition was stable pending further examinations.

Team doctor Morten Boesen detailed how he could initially feel a pulse when he arrived at Eriksen s side, but tha…

Hernandez not planning Bayern exit amid PSG links

Lucas Hernandez is not looking to leave Bayern Munich during the transfer window but says he may review his options if the situation continues to be complicated this season.

The France World Cup winner joined Bayern from Atletico Madrid in an €80million deal ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

However, Hernandez suffered ankle ligament damage in October and struggled for game time with Alphonso Davies nailing down a spot at left-back and David Alaba slotting in seamlessly in the centre of defence when Hansi Flick replaced Niko Kovac.

In total, the versatile defender made just 12 starts in all competitions and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move during the transfer window.

For now, though, Hernandez plans to remain in Germany with Bayern, who w…

Messi unfazed by pressure

Lionel Messi denies he is feeling any pressure heading into Barcelona s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Argentinean ace is looking to add to his phenomenal tally of 45 goals this season in Wednesday s match at the Nou Camp, after being held goalless in his last four games.

But the 23-year-old denies he is losing any sleep as he aims to break Brazilian legend Ronaldo s club record of 47, set in 1996-97.

I am not worried about not scoring recently, Messi said. I hope I can score tomorrow to help the team and carry on scoring, but it isn t something that worries me.

If I can score, fine. If not, it s OK. I m not worried, but it would be a great record to have if I could overtake Ronaldo.

More pressing is t…

European champions England will face off against Copa America Femenina champions Brazil at Wembley in the inaugural Women s Finalissima next year.

The clash on April 6 has been organised between UEFA and CONMEBOL to follow on from the success of the men s Finalissima in June, where South American champions Argentina defeated European title-holders Italy in front of a sold-out crowd at Wembley.

A cross-continent fixture has also taken place at youth level, with UEFA Youth League winners Benfica overcoming Uruguay s Club Atletico Penarol at the Estadio Centenario in August in Montevideo.

The clash will give both England and Brazil the opportunity to clinch a further title before the Women s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, leading Three Lionesses head coach …

Batista: Winning Copa will not be easy

Argentina coach Sergio Batista has warned his players to expect stiff competition when the Copa America kicks off on Saturday.

Argentina have been widely tipped to clinch the coveted trophy on home soil this year, though Brazil are no easy-beats and World Cup semi-finalists Uruguay could also cause an upset.

The host nation will kick off the tournament with a match against Group A rivals Bolivia in La Plata on Saturday, and Batista is already pouring cold water on talk of an easy run to the final.

It is going to be a really tough Copa, Bautista said.

There are teams who have already proven themselves in the World Cup and have evolved a lot since then.

They are well put together like in the case of Uruguay and Paraguay and in the case of Peru,…

MLS Preview: Wounded Sporting must bounce back

Reigning MLS Cup champions Sporting Kansas City will limp into Thursday s knockout play-off match away to New York Red Bulls.

Sporting have three players on their long-term injury list, while four others are in doubt for the trip to New York, after the title-holders played three games in eight days last week.

United States international defender Matt Besler (thigh), goalkeeper Andy Gruenebaum (calf), midfielder Benny Feilhaber (ankle) and defender Igor Juliao (hamstring) will need to prove their fitness to be involved against the Red Bulls.

Suarez receives four-month ban from all football

FIFA have handed Uruguay forward Luis Suarez a nine-match suspension and a four-month ban from all football-related activity.

The Liverpool star found himself in the all-too-familiar position of being under disciplinary scrutiny after appearing to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini as Uruguay beat Italy 1-0 on Tuesday.

Uruguay s triumph secured their place in the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup.

However, their talisman is now set to miss nine competitive international matches, starting with Uruguay s last-16 tie against Colombia on Saturday, after being punished for his actions and will also be unavailable to his club Liverpool, unless he is successful with an appeal.

In addition, Suarez has been fined CHF 100,000 (Swiss francs) and will be prohi…

Manchester United 2 Leicester City 0: Hosts´ fast start continues in front of Bolt

Substitutes Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini struck as Manchester United beat Leicester City 2-0 to continue their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season.

Rashford finished from Henrikh Mkhitaryan s corner three minutes after coming on, just as it looked like Jose Mourinho s men – who had seen Kasper Schmeichel save Romelu Lukaku s penalty – would have to settle for a frustrating home draw that typified last season s top-flight struggles.

Fellaini, another of Mourinho s introductions from the bench, then netted with eight minutes remaining to seal victory, although it looked like he was offside as he converted a shot from United s other sub, Jesse Lingard.

United were unable to make a first-half breakthrough despite being on top, Juan Mata hav…

The 31-year-old leaves after arriving to the Valencian side from Manchester City for a hefty €30 million fee at the start of the 2014 season.

Last season, Negredo was loaned out to Middlesbrough of the Premier League, where he totaled 40 appearances in all and tallied 10 goals, but was not able to save his side from going down the Championship — finishing 19th.
